Can I play against another person?

Currently the game is a single-player experience against an AI opponent. The AI has three difficulty levels to provide a range of challenge.

How does the AI difficulty work?

On Easy, the AI picks columns at random. On Medium, it prefers the center and blocks your three-in-a-row threats. On Hard, it looks two moves ahead and plays more strategically.

How is the score calculated?

Your score is 100 minus the number of moves you used to win. Fewer moves means a higher score. A draw awards no points.

Is there a way to go first?

Yes. You (red) always go first. The AI (yellow) responds after each of your moves.

How to Play Connect Four

Objective

Be the first player to connect four of your colored discs in a row — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

Controls

Tap or click a column to drop your disc (red) into it. The disc falls to the lowest available row. Then the AI opponent (yellow) takes its turn.

Step by Step

1You play as red, the AI plays as yellow. You go first.
2Tap a column to drop your red disc. It falls to the lowest empty cell in that column.
3The AI responds with its own disc in yellow.
4Alternate turns, trying to line up four of your discs while blocking the AI.
5The first player to connect four discs in a row wins. If the board fills up with no winner, it is a draw.

Winning

You win by connecting four red discs in an unbroken horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line before the AI does.

Connect Four Rules

The board is a 7-column, 6-row grid.
Players alternate turns, dropping one disc per turn.
Discs fall to the lowest available position in the chosen column.
The first player to align four discs consecutively — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — wins.
If all 42 cells are filled with no four in a row, the game is a draw.

Tips & Strategies

1.Control the center column. The middle column connects to the most potential four-in-a-row combinations, giving you the greatest strategic advantage.

2.Build multiple threats at once. If you have two different ways to complete a four-in-a-row, the AI can only block one — you win with the other.

3.Watch the AI's moves carefully. If the AI has three in a row with an open end, block immediately or you lose on the next turn.

4.Plan vertically. Stacking discs in the same column early can set up vertical threats while also supporting horizontal connections in higher rows.

5.On Easy difficulty the AI plays randomly, which is good for learning. Switch to Hard for a genuine challenge with lookahead-based AI.

This Connect Four game lets you play against an AI opponent at three difficulty levels.
